Accurate mix check for accurate voting
When I’m voting on battles there are 3 different things I listen to them on.
1. My fine tuned car stereo I installed myself to do my own mix check on my beats.
2. My Yamaha h5 studio monitors.
3. Studio headphones.
I try not to vote on mixing if I’m not using one of those three. I want to give an accurate vote based off what I’m hearing in the mix. Arrangement and creativity is one thing. You don’t need high powered speakers for that. But for mixes you do.
Now everyone might not have a tuned car stereo with a subwoofer to accurately hear every frequency in the beat. But the majority of producers do have headphones if not monitors.
The phone and laptop speakers don’t reveal everything in the mix. So it’s really an inaccurate judgment on a mix if you hear it on a phone or laptop.
Some guys beats have low end 808s in them. How would you know unless you can hear it from speakers that reproduce those frequencies accurately. This is just a voting technique of mine which gives me a more transparent view of the beat I’m listening to.
