Getting paid
Streams, the Beat Market, auctions, cash battles and payouts.
When does stream revenue start?
November 1. Streams from November 1 onward count toward the first monthly payout.
How is my share of the pool worked out?
Each month, up to 40% of partnership and ad revenue and up to 20% of membership revenue go into the producer pool. Your share is based on your points: your Certified Streams, weighted by who listened, plus the bonuses from Your Artists and Your Fanbase, compared with every other producer that month. Your dashboard shows the full breakdown.
What counts as a Certified Stream?
A real listen: a real person plays your beat long enough to count, from a unique connection. Repeat plays from the same listener, your own plays, linked accounts and bots are filtered out. We don't publish the exact listening time, so nobody can game it.
Are Beat Plays and Certified Streams the same thing?
No. Beat Plays count every time someone starts listening to your beat. Certified Streams are stricter: a longer, real listen, checked for bots, repeat listens, linked accounts and VPNs. Only Certified Streams count toward your share of the pool. You can see both on your profile.
What are Monthly Listeners?
The number of different people who listened to your beats on your profile or your beat pages in the last 30 days. Listens in battles don't count toward it: Monthly Listeners shows how many people came to you to hear your music.
Does every listener count the same?
No. Artists count the most, because they're the people who buy beats. Fans count next, then producers and visitors who aren't signed in. Each listener counts once per beat per day, and there is a daily limit per listener, so nobody can stream their way to a bigger share.
Can I bring my own listeners?
Yes, and it pays. Use the share button on any beat, or share your profile link (rocbattle.com/yourname). Anyone new who opens your link and signs up as an artist or fan becomes one of Your Artists or part of Your Fanbase, permanently. Their streams of your beats count double, and you get a cut whenever they stream other producers.
How do cash battles work?
Cash battles have prize money on the line and are announced on the Battles page. The winner takes the prize. Cash battles are judged with staff votes alongside the community.
How do I get into a tournament?
The top producers each month qualify for the next tournament. Keep battling, keep winning and climb the monthly leaderboard.
What can I sell in the Beat Market?
Your beats, as an MP3 or a WAV. The WAV is priced higher. Trackouts aren't sold in the Beat Market, but you can include them when you auction a beat's exclusive rights. Upload your WAVs now so your beats are ready when the market opens on November 1.
How are Beat Auctions different from the Beat Market?
The Beat Market sells at your set price, over and over (MP3 and WAV leases, or the exclusive). An auction sells the exclusive rights once, to the highest bidder, in 7 days. Hot beats can go for far more than a fixed price.
Who can run a beat auction?
Verified Exclusive and Exclusive Gold members (you need the blue check, so go through the steps on your Verification page). Gold members can run as many auctions as they want. Exclusive members get one auction a month. Auctions open November 1 with Rockwilder's beats, and members are next.
What happens if my auction doesn't reach the reserve?
It ends without a sale, nobody is charged, and your beat goes back to normal in the Beat Market. You can run another auction any time.
When do I get paid for an auction?
As soon as the winner's payment goes through, your share is sent to your payout account, the same way as a Beat Market sale. Set up payouts in your account so the money can reach you.
How do I receive my money?
You'll set up your payout details in your account before the first payout. We'll let every producer know as soon as it's ready.
Do I need Exclusive to earn from streams?
No. Every producer earns stream revenue, free Members included. Free Members can keep up to 5 beats on the platform, Exclusive members up to 200, and Exclusive Gold members have no limit. More beats means more streams.
Does it cost anything?
Member is free. Exclusive is $9.99 a month and Exclusive Gold is $19.99 a month. Both are billed monthly through Stripe, and you can cancel any time from your Membership page.
