Standby producers
First round only: if a producer misses the deadline, the next standby producer's beat goes in. If both producers in a match miss it, they both forfeit and standby producers fill both seats. If only one standby producer is left, they move to the next round with the same beat.

The rules
- 1.This is a straight-up hip hop tournament. Hip hop, trap and East Coast type beats are all good. Other styles are fine as long as they fall under hip hop. No R&B.
- 2.We take 1 through 16 and flip it: number 1 battles number 16, number 2 battles number 15, and so on down the line. Win and you move on. Lose and you're out.
- 3.The winner takes the full $500.
- 4.Every beat has to be original and never heard before on RocBattle. Have a new beat ready for every round.
- 5.Only use beats you made. Every beat has to come from you. You can't buy a beat from somewhere else or use anything that isn't yours.
- 6.Your beat should be loaded before your round opens. You get a 1-hour grace period after that. If your beat isn't in by then, you forfeit.
- 7.First round only: after the 1-hour grace period, the next standby producer's beat goes in. If both producers in a battle miss the deadline, both forfeit and standby producers fill both seats. If only one standby producer is left, they move to the next round with the same beat. After the first round, there are no standby producers, and a missed beat is a forfeit.
- 8.If both producers in a battle miss the deadline and no standby producer can fill in, both forfeit and the winner of the neighboring battle gets a free pass through the next round. If that next round is the final, that producer is the champion.
- 9.Staff and VIP votes are included and count for 30% of the result. Staff votes are required to close these battles.
- 10.Sound Check: if we question your beat, you have to go on record and on video and break down every aspect of how the beat was produced and played. That's called a Sound Check. If you refuse or fail a Sound Check, you're disqualified.
- 11.You can use samples, but a sample has to be flipped. If all you did was add a snare over an 8-bar loop, you're disqualified.
- 12.Be very careful with sample kits and reconstructed kits. We will judge those with extreme scrutiny. It has to feel like something different. If you take a sample, we want to hear obvious reorganization, chops, something that makes it yours.
- 13.Beats only. No full songs, sung lyrics or rap verses over your beat. Vocal stabs, chops and choruses are fine.
- 14.No AI beats.
- 15.You don't need the blue check to play or to get paid.
- 16.Tournament battles don't count toward your battle limits, your rating or the monthly rankings.
- 17.Rules may be updated.
