Beat Market + Cash Battles are open for beta: get set up before November 1st
What's good, RocBattle family.
Two big things just went live on the site, and I want every producer ready before we officially launch on November 1st. That's 11 days. These next 10 days are our beta, so set everything up now, use it, and tell me what breaks.
THE BEAT MARKET IS OPEN
You can now sell your beats right here on RocBattle. Buyers pay on the site and the money goes straight to you through Stripe.
And for the beta: you keep 100% of every beat sale until November 1st. After launch, your share is based on your membership level. Now is the time to push your beats.
STEP 1: CONNECT YOUR PAYOUTS
Go to Settings, then Payouts (https://rocbattle.com/settings/payouts) and click Connect with Stripe. Stripe verifies who you are and asks where to send your money. That's how you get paid directly.
STEP 2: SET UP YOUR BEAT LICENSE
Every buyer automatically gets a PDF license agreement with their download. It has your name, the beat, what they're allowed to do with it, and the date. You fill in your info once on the Payouts page under License info, and it goes on every license you sell:
- "Prod. by" credit name: how you want to be credited on every song made with your beat
- Legal name (optional)
- Your PRO (ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and others) and your IPI number (optional)
- Publisher (optional)
- Your share of the song's publishing (%)
- Your limits for MP3 and WAV leases: how many copies they can sell, audio streams, music videos, radio stations, and how many years the license lasts. We filled in common starting numbers. Change them to whatever you want.
- Exclusive terms: your publishing share on exclusives, and who owns the beat after an exclusive sale. Either you keep ownership and the buyer gets exclusive use (most common), or the buyer gets full ownership.
Every license protects you too. Buyers can't resell or re-license your beat by itself, and can't register it alone with Content ID. When they hit a limit, they come back to you for an upgrade. Changes you make only apply to new sales, so licenses already sold stay the same.
STEP 3: SET YOUR PRICES
Go to My Beats and set your prices. Price one beat at a time with Set prices, or use "Sell your beats: set prices for many beats at once."
What you can sell:
- MP3 Lease: untagged MP3, non-exclusive
- WAV Lease: WAV + MP3, non-exclusive (only on beats you uploaded as a WAV, so upload your WAVs)
- Exclusive Rights: once it sells, the beat is marked SOLD and comes off the market
Prices start at $5. Buyers pay a small service fee on top, so it never comes out of your price. Your money lands in your Stripe account a few days after the sale, faster once you're a verified producer. Track everything in My Sales.
AD POINTS + CASH BATTLES
You can now buy Ad Points to promote yourself on RocBattle. Here is the math: $1 = 1 Ad Point, and every Ad Point = 200 impressions. An impression is one time your Sponsored Producer banner is seen on the site: battle pages, profiles, Find Beats and the homepage.
- $25 = 25 Ad Points = 5,000 impressions
- $50 = 50 Ad Points = 10,000 impressions
- $100 = 100 Ad Points = 20,000 impressions
- $250 = 250 Ad Points = 50,000 impressions
Your points come off as your banner gets seen, and you can watch your balance and your views in My Ads. Your ads run in full no matter what.
As a reward for advertising with us, you can take on another producer who advertises in a Cash Battle:
- Pick your opponent and an amount: $25, $50, $100 or $250
- They buy the same amount of Ad Points to accept. They have 72 hours.
- Judged 60% by staff and 40% by the community
- The winner is paid 90% of the combined amount. Both producers keep all their Ad Points either way.
- You need to be a verified producer to cash battle
Want to call somebody out? Head to the Battles room and make it public. Then send the challenge from their profile with the $ Cash battle button.
To be clear on how this works: you're buying advertising on RocBattle. You're not paying to enter a competition. The cash battle is a perk we give producers who advertise with us.
WE'RE TESTING FOR THE NEXT 10 DAYS
This is beta. Some things might act funny, and that's exactly why we're doing it now and not on launch day. If anything goes wrong with a sale, a license, a payout, Ad Points or a cash battle, post it right here in this thread with as much detail as you can. Me and the team will be watching it every day.
Connect your payouts, fill in your license info, and set your prices. November 1st, we open the doors.
