Battle Limits Up, $100 for #1 + New Rule on Vocals
What's going on, RocBattle family!
Three updates for everybody: the battle limit is going up, we're making it official on vocals over beats, and there's a $100 bonus for #1 this month.
1. Battle limit: 15 is now 20
While we've been in beta, the limit has been 15 battles a month. We started there on purpose, to see what the traffic could bear and what would be fair for everybody. A lot of you hit that 15 early, some of you before the middle of the month. That told us two things: people want to battle more, and battles were getting bunched up at the front of the month.
So here's how it works starting today:
• 20 battles a month. That's 5 more battles in the month for everybody, so you can rank differently.
• 2 new battles a day. This keeps battles spread out through the whole month, so there's always someone around to take a battle that's waiting in the pool. If you join in the middle of the month, you still have a fair shot at getting all 20 in.
• 2 battles going at once. Same as before.
• The same limits for everyone. Rankings and records are only fair if everybody is working with the same number of battles. Nobody gets to rank off more battles than anybody else.
If you were already at 15 this month, you can battle again right now. The month resets on the 1st, and the daily count resets at midnight Eastern. You'll see where you stand on the battle page before you start or take a battle.
2. Beats only: no full songs or rap vocals
We're making this official: you can't battle with song lyrics or rap lyrics over your beat.
• Vocal stabs, chops and choruses are fine. That's part of production.
• Full songs and rap verses are not.
Here's the logic. RocBattle is a beat battle. When you put a full song on a beat, people start judging the song, the singer or the rapper, and not the beat. It gives that beat an edge, and that's not a fair fight against a producer who came with just the beat. We want every vote to be about the production.
This starts now, and it's officially enforced after November 1st. If you see a battle with a full song or rap vocals on it, use Report this battle and pick "Full song or rap vocals on the beat." Staff will review it, and battles that break the rule will be disqualified.
3. $100 bonus for #1 in October
The producer ranked #1 on the RocBattle Rankings when October ends (11:59pm Eastern, October 31st) gets a $100 bonus. You need to be RocBattle Verified to get paid, so if you are in the race, get verified now. With 5 more battles this month, the top spot is wide open.
