RocBattle Integrity Update: AI Beats, Disqualifications & What's Next

What's going on, RocBattle family.

Throughout this beta we've been testing everything: voting, streams, rankings, and the systems that keep this place honest. With real money on the line, we had to know how people might try to game RocBattle before launch. RocBattle has invested a lot of time and money into detecting AI-generated music, and as we get close to November 1st, we're putting it into practice.

WHAT WE FOUND
Some beats entered in battles were made with AI music generators and were labeled "Original: no AI was used." We now use sophisticated detection software to catch AI-generated music. Here's one of them: the beat in a RocBattle battle, then the exact same track on Suno.

WHO WAS DISQUALIFIED
For the integrity of this community, we're naming them:

- ThroneMuzik: 10 beats made with Suno, all labeled "no AI." 7 battle wins reversed.
- Dj Maxx Payne: 7 beats made with Suno labeled "no AI." 4 battle wins reversed.
- Logan F (KnocKkTurnalBeats): "HitMan" was made with Suno and labeled "no AI." Disqualified; the win goes to Tripl3C.

Every corrected battle now shows a notice explaining why, and the win went to the producer who made their own beat. Ratings, records and divisions have been recalculated.

One producer labeled his music as AI-assisted from the start. His battles stand as they are. Honesty counts.

WHY IT MATTERS
AI is a tool, and we're not against it. But a battle is producer against producer: your ear, your drums, your hours. An AI beat can't be put up against real talent. It's not real, and it's not fair.

MOVING FORWARD
- No AI battles. Period. AI-generated or AI-assisted beats can't be entered in battles.
- AI beats can still be uploaded to your profile, as long as they're labeled.
- AI beats can be sold on RocBattle. If you want to make AI beats to sell, by all means, do that.
- AI beats do not earn streaming revenue.
- Every upload is checked. If our system detects AI, it can't battle and it can't earn streams.

We're building RocBattle so producers can win and get paid for what their own skills and talent can do. That's the whole point.

I feel u bro,,,I guess its the same as me using a eq preset in the mp...however the examples pointed out sounded like 1:1,,copy of that suno beat...or what do u do ? Prompt suno to make the beat 🤷🏾‍♂️...i mean...id rather do it 😆...mite take a bit longer but hey...to each thier own tho...everyone knows a ZERZAY when its playin...even without the tag...thats the manna for me.

Hey if you guys are using good studio monitoring headphones, you should be able to hear the "AI grit". Now I wonder if you use AI let's say to make a sample ofc you're going to run that through your MPC or Sampler plugin, and if it's meant to sound like a piece of gear it's going to chop those frequencies off, and sound like a LoFi sample. Then if you build the beat around that, that should be considered human authorship, because you used Suno as a sample generator, or like a record basically, and you built your beat in the same fashion as you would a non-cleared sample, that should count as human authorship and not get the AI label. In my opinion.

Why would you use Suno for mastering? Do you have earwax in your ears? Suno sounds horrible quality. The top end is scratchy and unmusical. It sounds metallic, and harsh. You are better off using LANDR, or Emastered, or even free mastering from Bandlab than to use Suno. Suno is not even made for mastering. It is made to generate music from white noise. So, if you upload your beat, Suno will do its own remix to it, the generation process will have ugly artifacts plastered all over it, and it will be obvious to people who know or are used to messing around with Suno to know your beat is AI.

I never have a problem finding any type of sound or music. But if a person wants to say,,hey I made an original sample thru ai and now im guna manipulate with my hardware...do yo 1 2...i try not to judge humans methods,,,

Now in my opinion, the one to lookout for is Lyria 3 and newer versions. That AI doesn't always make bangers like Suno does, but the quality of the music is so real, you can't tell. The instruments are clean, clear, smooth and detailed. That's the one I am afraid of, because that would sound like a human beat. But the musicianship is crazy with Lyria, and that might be the giveaway. The producer is TOO GOOD at every genre of music. IDK. It's an arms race.

I feel that, but like sampling has its own vibe. I can see guys using AI to make samples without having to clear actual samples. Like I think that is a good use of AI. But sure, we can also play or draw everything out in the piano roll, or play it all on the midi controller etc. And those beats are great too, but I feel like sampling is an art of its own. I do think it would be lazy to take an AI beat from Suno and lay some drums over it and call it a day lol. IDK we'll figure it all out one day lol.

I'm actually against that. AI mixing and mastering is buns. Like why would they need AI to turn an EQ knob, a fader, or set a compression ratio?

You should already know that Suno makes shitty mixes. I have put my own beats in there to get songs done with AI rappers, because rappers I know are unreliable clout chasing turds. But, I hate that Suno makes my very well mixed and mastered beat sound like ass. Like you should know that Suno would make your beat sound like ass. I think you are making excuses to lazy prompt beats from the shitter, and then battle them. That's what it seems like to me, but hey, do you.

Thats Crazy... Win, lose or Draw im never using Ai to make beats. That defeats the purpose of being a beatmaker/producer... my Suggestion would be get you a tracklib account.. plenty of samples to flip and you can clear the samples.. invest in ISRC CODES. I DO SELL THEM THROUGH MY COMPANY BILL BIGGZ GLOBAL. just hit me up.. AFTER ALL THAT PRACTICE YOUR CHOPPING SKILLS.. if you are not a sampler and play everything.. then you shouldnt be using Ai anyway... That my 2 cents not like it matters to anyone.. J/S

Just for future reference. This video evidence would not or will not be acceptable. This is just the stems all tracked out. If you are ever in question in the future, you would need to demonstrate you playing or chopping the composition and verify every loop pattern. It's that serious when you are looking to be creditable for the work you are putting out when you are questioned about it. Again, this version of RocB plans to pay out a lot of money to producers and fraudulent activity will be checked when in question. So you have to be ready to defend your work beyond showing your stems in a mix.

I love this.. Keep it Honest, Keep it Fair. I work hard on my Beats.. likeable or not... .I want to know what goes into the thought process of saying "you know what, im just gonna use Ai and claim it as my own.. That shit is weird to me.. But the way my MPC One works it wont allow me to do that bullshit..shit i wont allow me to do that bullshit...just glad you all are on top of it...

People should be able to use the new tools. Using AI to make samples is fine, I think. It is the same as sampling a known record, but since AI made material can't be copywritten, that means the sample is instantly cleared. Because it's an AI work, and you are sampling it, and changing it to make a beat. Now when you make a beat with AI material as your sample, there is enough human authorship to copyright that beat. They don't need a tracklib account to make beats. This is better because they can make the sample they need instead of crate digging. That shouldn't be forbidden here. What should be, is what ThroneMuzik did, and that's him battling beats he lazy prompted from the toilet. That should result in a permanent IP / hardware ID ban or something lol.
